4/21/22 – Last Day Being Five!

You woke up this morning very aware that today is your last day being 5 & to celebrate, you asked if you could have a Vitamin C pop. Of course! Anything goes on your last day of an age. When you started talking I noticed your top tooth finally broke through. You said “I got a tooth for my birthday!” Grandma Noot made you 3 eggs for breakfast (since the last two days she had to make an extra one) and Aunt Deb stopped by to drop off the coolers for your party. You sang for all of us your graduation songs that your class is practicing. I can’t believe you are almost finished with Kindergarten. We parked next to Micha and walked up to school with her & her Mom. You both marched in through the gates so confidently. All week it’s run through my head that there are only 5 more Mondays. I’m scrambling for the pause button. I feel keenly aware that this is the end of you being little… Wrapping up Kindergarten and turning 6 – that’s big stuff!

I surprised you and came for lunch. All the Kindergarten classes were in the cafeteria practicing the Graduation songs. I was peeking in and Ms. Nasby shooed me out! It chokes me up hearing your super sweet songs. When you finished, I popped into the cafeteria and you were in line for school lunch. Even though it took everything I had to ok this, today is a yes day, so school lunch you had! I even packed you chocolate charcuterie in hopes of winning you over, but it failed!

I picked you up and we headed to Meanie’s Mini Donuts for an after school treat. You found a cool mermaid mural and you asked me to take your picture with it. Usually, you are rolling your eyes at me for wanting to take you picture so much! I was happy you wanted me to take it! You inhaled your donuts and we headed to the condo to unload all the party decorations. You grabbed your dolls and we headed to the Beach House for dinner because you wanted to eat with your toes in the sand. Our server was great and when he found out it was your last day of being 5, he really went overboard for you. You were slurping your applesauce and said “I like to drink my applesauce not eat it!!” I sent it to Ms. Wolleon & she said “clearly, she’s ready for college!” The server brought you a surprise dessert loaded with cherries since you love them so much! We went out tot he beach to play for a while before heading home. As soon as we got home, we cleaned off our feet and climbed in bed. You didn’t even survive one meditation. You literally fell asleep with a sucker in your mouth, a pop it in your hand and your meditation turtle next to you.

Happy last day of being 5. I love you so much!
