8/25/21 – Nakie Swimming!

You ran to my room this morning dressed & ready to go. You ran upstairs this morning to get Jackie. She arrived last night after you went to bed. You wanted her to go lizard catching with you before school. You were disappointed not to find any in our front yard, but agreed we could look for some at school. We found some but were unsuccessful in catching them, so you went into class crying and upset. I told you that you and Mark could try to catch some at recess but you wanted to do it with me.

When I picked you up, you told me that Ms. Wolleon made a new rule that there was no more lizard or bug catching on the playground. You were bummed. You told me Mark is the one who showed you how to catch them…ugh if I could get my hands on him lol! We went to Aunt Deb’s to help Jackie load up Fed’s old mattress and while we were visiting, you played with the dogs and then wanted to go “nakie swimming” with them! You were playing on the paddle board with Broadway when Aunt Deb leaned over to move the huge cube float and she fell in the pool. You thought that was hilarious! Aunt Deb gave you a glittery ghost headband & we got you dressed and met Daddy at Lucky Pelican for dinner. You wanted to ride home with Daddy and you wanted to race! We got home, jumped in bed, read your books and you drifted off to sleep. I went with you too lol!

I love you so much!

8/24/21 – Missing Daddy

You came to my bathroom while I was in the shower, already dressed in your pink Steelers jersey. You were perfectly happy all morning, but when I walked you up to the gate, the usual lady, the Speech Pathologist, wasn’t there. Instead there was a guy and he didn’t welcome you in. You got cold feet & didn’t want to go inside. I couldn’t get you to go in until the gates closed & you weren’t happy at all. I felt so bad. I messaged Ms. Wolleon to let her know you were feeling sad and she said that yesterday you looked sad so she asked you if you were ok. You told her you missed Daddy. I told her he was surprising you and picking you up today!

Daddy picked you up from school & you guys stopped by his office for a few minutes before meeting me and Grandma Noot at Mi Pueblo for dinner. You were so good. When we got home, you played with Daddy and then we headed to bed. I read you a few books and then you were out. Bed time is definitely a breeze these days.

I love you so much!

8/23/21 – You Can’t Move This Stuff

This morning, you went to your room to line up all your Steelers shirts, books & snow globes. You came to our bathroom to get Daddy & you asked him to come look at how you lined up all your Steelers stuff to help you get ready for school. He said “ awwww. That’s so nice! You don’t have to wear your jersey today, you can wait until Friday if you want.” Then you came back to get me. When I said “let’s make your bed ” you said “Mom! You can’t move this stuff, it’s special! And if you make the bed it could slip off!”

You were crying in the garage while Daddy was trying to leave for work. I got you to come to the front door to wave to him, but you were still so sad. I got you to come inside & you said “I’m not going to watch Disney+ today instead I’m going to watch a Steelers show.” I put the game on and sent Daddy a picture.

When you walked in to school you were happy. I texted Daddy to let him know and he was relieved. It’s hard to see you sad like that.
When I picked you up you climbed in and asked why Daddy didn’t pick you up. You asked if he was out of town again. I told you he cancelled his trip because he misses you and wanted to spend time with you!
We stopped at Whole Foods on way home. You weighed all the produce you chose. We talked about how to choose fruit. You picked up a nectarine but it had a moldy spot, so I showed it to you & you took it back and carefully selected another one. You chatted up some old people in produce and told them you are in Kindergarten at Bay Haven Manatees. At the check out you put all the groceries on the belt and were super chatty with the clerk. You held up the brownies and said “we got three of these. One for Mommy, one for me and one for Daddy! Oh my god! We forgot to get one for Harry! Just kidding dogs can’t have chocolate!” The cashier was cracking up and told me I need to get a YouTube channel to put all your shenanigans on because you are so funny!

We called Daddy on the way home because you wanted to talk to him. You said “Daddy, we got you a treat. It’s a surprise. It’s chocolate.” When we got home, you helped me prepare a baked ziti (& ate a bunch of my ricotta cheese lol). When I looked in your bookbag, I found your graded sight word test from last Friday. You got a 100%!! I was so excited and so proud of you. After dinner, we snuggled and watched about half of Meet the Robinsons before heading to bed to read & snuggle. You were out in 2 minutes!

I love you so much!

8/22/21 – Open The Park

You & Bianca woke up at 7:30a ready to go. We packed up to check out and headed to breakfast. We headed to the park & got there before they even opened. They did a super cute count down & had a dance team welcoming everyone in. The park was a ghost town and we had 5 minute waits the entire time. All day you wanted to ride by yourself at every opportunity. On UniKitty you asked me not to ride but then got upset & started to pout when you had to sit by a kid you didn’t know. You moved over to sit by Becky and started to recover but then when you saw me watching, you started to cry and put on a little bit of a show, but I still felt so bad. There was no room for me to sit by you though so I couldn’t help you. Becky offered for you to get off and get on again with me, but you recovered and rode anyway. We rode everything several times and left around 2:30p to go to the Pirate hotel for lunch & to swim. You were walking around the pool with a boy you called your “new best friend” holding his hand and leading him around to the slide and back to the pool. We were getting ready to leave & when we walked through the lobby there were princesses putting on a show. You guys wanted to stay and watch it, so we did. We left later than I wanted, around 7p & we got home around 8p. You wanted to play, but I told you we stayed so long that we don’t have time and you agreed, got ready for bed and were snoring in two minutes! It was a wonderful weekend and I’m so glad we went!

I love you so much!

8/21/22 – A Little Too Tired To Party

You woke up at 7:30a to pee & then climbed into bed with me. I almost had you back to sleep then you and Bianca connected and that was it. You were both up & it was way too early especially after going to bed so darn late. You guys played outside on the playground in your jammies for a little while then took a bath & got ready. We had breakfast then headed to the park. You were both crabby off and on all day because you were both tired.

We left the park around 1p & we stopped for ice cream on our way back to the hotel. You both worked quietly on a Puzzle Buzz in the car. We headed to the pool for a while until the rain kicked us out around 3p. We showered & headed out to an early dinner. You both ate very well & there were still threatening skies so came back to the hotel. You & Bianca were bickering a lot so you & I took a walk. The pool was back open but closed again due to lightning as soon as we got there. We played on the big playground. We walked back to the room and got in bed early. All three of you were sleeping by 8:30p.

I love you so much!

8/20/21 – This Is The Best Life!

You woke up this morning and were so happy to see that I packed your bag after you went to bed. You FaceTimed with Grandma Noot, Ms. Sandy & Daddy while you ate breakfast. We got to school early & you were so happy.

I surprised you and picked you up early at 2p. The look on your face when you saw me in the school office was priceless. Today was your first test – a sight words test & you said you did great! We headed straight to Legoland. We beat traffic and made good time and checked in to the Beach Retreat. You were so excited when we opened the door & you saw the room. You played in the room for a while then we headed to the park. I thought it was open later tonight but I was wrong they closed at 5p. It was 5:15p so we went to the Pirate hotel and played in the lobby for a while. You played with several kids and then we saw Hannah and Benjamin Berlin from Discovery Days! We left around 6:45p and headed to a restaurant where we met Becky and Bianca.

We headed back to the hotel and you guys played on the playground equipment for a little bit. Then you guys had a “midnight feast” in the bunk beds and had a dance party. You guys were sitting on the bed saying “this is the best life!” We finally got you guys to lay down. You both always insist on sleeping together even though we haven’t had success once yet lol. You both snuggled for a few minutes then Bianca wanted to snuggle with Becky. When she got on the other bed you rolled over and started snoring immediately, but it was 11p. You both had a long week and I definitely didn’t want you to stay up this late because you have a big day tomorrow & you don’t want to be tired tomorrow!

I love you so much!!!

8/19/21 – My Mom’s Gonna Cry

You were up this morning at 7:30a on your own. You came to shower with me & then you wanted to get dressed in your Steelers jersey because Daddy had to fly to Pittsburgh today. He made your breakfast and gave you a million kisses before he left. We sent him some super cute pictures of you in your gear to help start his day off great!

When I pulled up in the car line, Mr. Erickson helped you into my car. He asked if I was missing a Steelers fan and you thought that was hilarious. You were cracking up laughing. We headed to gymnastics but the car line was so short that we were 30 minutes early, so we headed to see Dr. Dan. You jumped right up on the table to get adjusted and you chatted his ear off. You told him “My Mom’s gonna cry when I’m 13!” He couldn’t get over how much you have grown & it’s only been about a month since we were there!

We headed to gymnastics where you ended up having a great class. It took about 15 minutes for you to join the class because you didn’t want to leave me. You were tearful and I wasn’t sure why. All of a sudden, you just ran out there and joined the class & you did great! I don’t know what was up!

We met Chrissy & Olivia for dinner at the Outback then headed home to pack for Legoland tomorrow! We jumped in bed, snuggled and you were snoring in 10 minutes!

I love you so much!

8/18/21 – Baby Kyle Blow Dryer

This morning, you slept in a little late because you went to bed so late. I went to your room and climbed in bed with you at 8:15a. I was rubbing your face & hair whispering good morning to you. You were just starting to wake up and Daddy came in before he left for work. He laid on top of you and you were giggling. You told him he was smooshing your feet!!! You were so happy and it was a perfect start to our morning. You got dressed and while you ate breakfast you went on about how Daddy makes the best eggies. You were excited about your sparkly skirt and loved watching it in the sunlight. You fist bumped the guy on the way in the gate to school. You were happily bouncing down the hall which made me so happy. You are excited to go to school and you are happy each day when I pick you up. This transition hasn’t been easy for me, but seeing you this happy makes my heart so happy.

When I picked you up, we stopped at my office for a few minutes so I could grab my things. In the car you asked me to please pick you up before PE tomorrow. You told me “I don’t like PE because we have to run two laps and I don’t want to do that.” We headed to meet Daddy at Rusty Bucket. He was already seated when we arrived & you ran up to him and shouted “Boo!” to surprise him. After dinner, you rode with him to Target and you found a “Baby Kyle” blow dryer & thought it was hilarious. When we got home, it was time to go to bed. You weren’t happy that we didn’t have time to play before bed. We got into your room, climbed in bed and you asked me to massage your feet. You fell asleep, laying sideways with your feet on my belly. I stayed an extra 20 minutes just admiring you.

I love you so much!

8/17/21 – You Should Surprise Me

You got up & dressed and came out in pants but had shorts on underneath your pants. You thought it was hilarious. You were ready early today and when we got to school you ran through the gate so fast you almost forgot your backpack!

When I picked you up, you climbed in the car and were hanging out the back window with your face in the air with a giant smile on your face. It was so sweet. You put my boxing gloves on and knew what they were for. You said “I know what you use these for… you hit that thing in the middle!” I said yes & I asked how you know that? You said “from squishy stuff videos.” On the drive home you said “Mama, you should surprise me tomorrow. Have Daddy pick me up as a surprise. Except I already know so it won’t be a surprise, but that’s ok.” I was cracking up. We stopped at Detweiler’s to get seafood (you tried to get a candy bar as we checked out) and met Daddy at home. He grilled you both steaks and I made clams and shrimp. You ate almost all my clams and thought it was funny!

After dinner, you played with Daddy on the stairs & read a bunch books. You snuggled in his arms, yawning, but insisted you weren’t tired. When I came in to put you to bed, you weren’t wanting to go to sleep. We struggled a little, but then you came to sit on me and rock in the chair for a few minutes. You asked me to show you a picture of you when you were born, then one each year after. It was nice to scroll through them with you. I just can’t get over how fast these five years have gone. You settled down quickly and we got back into bed. You were snoring in no time although it was close to 9:30p which is way too late now with school.

I love you so much!

8/16/21 – First Homework Assignment

This morning, while I was getting ready I saw the TV in the living room come on. You got up at 7:30a and headed to the couch and didn’t even say good morning! You did your jobs and we got out the door perfectly on time. You were a little reluctant to go to your classroom but ultimately did without too much angst.
When I picked you up I was one of the first few cars and you were happy to be out of there so fast! You had PE for the first time today and you were super happy about that! You wanted to give me directions when we left to go to a location you wouldn’t describe, but your left and right turn instructions were leading us to dead ends and the rain was coming so we agreed to just head home to beat the rain. When we got home you played play dough and then with your mermaids while I made dinner. While dinner was cooking we played Go Fish and SkipBo.
You hid in my room to jump out and scare Daddy when he got home. After dinner, we did your homework – this was the first time you had homework! We worked on your sight words, practiced writing your name and read books. You were very proud to accomplish everything on the list. When Daddy finished eating you roped him into playing cards for about 30 min then we had to head to bed. Of course you immediately are starving as soon as we headed to your room. So you ate two Babybel cheeses and a banana. We read a few stories and you were out before 9p.
I love you so much!
