You woke up at 7:30a excited to go to the park. You told me you wanted to go do rides first then have breakfast lol! We rode lots of rides very quickly because there were absolutely no lines. I couldn’t believe it. Also, we had great weather. It was hot, but not too humid and in the shade it was nice.
You very happy on Coastersaurus & were not scared at all. You guys rode everything. You, Rafe & Roman all got along well and were holding hands walking around lots of times!
We came back to shower and have dinner at the hotel. Then we swam until the pool closed. You were on the slide and got into a little scuffle with a big kid who was cutting in line. I saw you crying so I went up to the slide deck to see what happened. You asked me to stay with you so it didn’t happen again. I did. After your turn on the slide, I was coming down the stairs and you were running up because you were excited to go again! Unfortunately, you slipped and hit your shin really hard on the steps. I carried you back to our chairs and you were already bruised and had a small cut.
I carried you back to our room. You showered and then made Daddy lay in the top bunk with you and watch tv. You were trying to get me to get up there too!!! Instead, I brought you every snack you requested lol. You told me “Mom! You’re missing all the snacks!”
After an hour or so, I told you I’m going to bed. You two watched a little more tv then came to my bed. You were snoring in 2 seconds, Daddy was out in 2 minutes!! We had such a fun day today! You did great and really enjoyed having the boys to ride and play with. This was definitely a weekend for the books!
we are headed to Legoland today Daddy took you to breakfast while I ran in to do a quick closing.
She was mad the sign in front didn’t say Fancy Breakfast
hey dad. I really need some help can you snuggle with me? I left a big space for you. Let’s snuggle. Cmon dad
after swimming closed pool. Went back to room. Shower
climbed in bed w us. Fell asleep fast. I told daddy see how fast she passed out. You said hey you woke me up! Laid your head down and went immediately back to sleep
You slept until 9:15a then as soon as you woke up you snuggled with Harold and played with Treeko. You were letting him play in your dollhouse and thought it was hilarious. I tried to take you to the Meadows to swim but you strongly preferred to stay home and play with him.
Finally, I got you to get dressed and we met Marcela for lunch. You were fascinated with the Lion and cub outside the restaurant. You wanted to bring your headphones everywhere even though there was nothing to listen to or plug them in to!
This afternoon was your last Spanish class of the summer with Ms. Ida. When you finished, we went home to make dinner. After we cleaned up, Daddy took us to the lot to check progress on the house. Our first floor walls started going up and we were all so excited to see it!!! We watched part of Aladdin and you wanted Treeko to sit on you while we watched. You were bummed he was sleeping so you couldn’t hold him.
It was getting late so we headed to your room to read books and go to bed. You left the room to get your water bottle but instead grabbed the star with my Dad’s name on it from the funeral. I asked you to put it down and when you were taking it back to the bar, you dropped it. It shattered into a million pieces. It made me cry so I went to my room for a few minutes to regroup. You came in to check on me and apologized many times. You felt terrible. I went back to your room with you to snuggle with you. You got were tired & grumpy, got upset and asked me to leave. You fell asleep on your own just before 10p with all the lights still on. I know you were exhausted.
You slept in this morning again (around 9a) and even missed Daddy before he left for work. When you came out of your room, you immediately wanted to get Treeko out. We were feeding him like 10 worms and Aunt Deb called. You put her on Face Call and showed her how you were feeding Treeko. We also spoke to Ms. Sandy on Face Call too.
We spoke to Daddy on Face Call with Daddy this morning. I was folding laundry and I overheard you told him “Mommy took the day off to spend time with me. She worked hard to do that!” That warmed my heart when I heard that. I love spending time with you and will always go out of my way to make sure we have as much quality time as possible. You played with Treeko until the last minute before we had to leave to head to my office. You were dressed, but before we left, you added 5 layers of shirts and 3 layers of shorts! I tried to tell you that would be too hot, but you insisted. I had a quick cash closing and you were coloring and watching Disney + in the conference room. It’s amazing how you are able to manipulate the mouse on my laptop and move around the screens and apps. It’s unbelievable especially considering that you don’t have a tablet or any real way to practice on a computer.
As soon as I finished, we headed to run by the lot to check progress (there was none since Sunday) and then we stopped for lunch. You wanted pizza, so we stopped at Joey Ds. We sat down but immediately you were uncomfortable. It was very full and there was music playing a little loudly. You didn’t like that and asked to leave so we did. Instead, we went to Cafe Epicure and had a wonderful time. I knew most of the wait staff so they all chatted you up. Of course you made lots of “I Love You” pages to hand out and they were all melting at how sweet you were. After lunch, we walked to the OfKors Bakery and you chose a “cherry bomb” cake that we shared. You went through several outfit changes and peeled off a few layers while we were out lol.
On the way back to the office, you were pretending in the car. You were making a phone call on the digital thermometer you brought from home and said “Hi this is Dr. Koontz. I love you. I need to talk to you later. I have an appointment.” I was cracking up laughing! We colored and you walked around the office making everyone write their name on a list. You told them all that you were making a list of people to invite to your birthday party next year!! Again, everyone was cracking up. You reluctantly allowed Christen to be added to the list lol.
Ms. Ida arrived for Spanish and you went running into the room to greet her. You now know the Spanish alphabet and you have learned so much during these two weeks by getting to practice 2 hours each day. On the way out after class, you, Hannah & Benjamin Berlin were being silly and giggling. You have had fun with them as well.
We headed home after class and Daddy beat us home! I made dinner while you and Daddy practiced writing on your dry erase boards. After dinner, we watched Luca with Treeko and you got to have some ice cream. When Aunt Deb called, you were excited to tell her the play by play of Treekos night lol. When the movie was over we headed to bed. You asked that we read the Pixar 5 minute stories book – the whole thing. I read the first 1 1/2 stories and then you gave me a kiss and said sweetly, “Mama, I’m going to close my eyes now, but please keep reading.” Five words later you were snoring. I finished the story just because I said I would, kissed you and admired you for a couple of minutes before I left. You are consistently going to sleep fairly easy and sleeping through the night in your room. It’s another stark reminder that you are growing and needing me less and less each day. While it’s nice that bedtime isn’t a struggle any more, I can’t believe how independent you are becoming and how fast time is going. I’m clinging to this summer time with you before real school starts. I know the pace is going to pick up the second you walk through the Bay Haven doors. On the other hand, I’m buckled up ready for the amazing ride we are about to embark upon.
You slept all night in your bed and woke up around 8a. Of course, you immediately wanted to get Treeko out, so you came to my room dressed in your swimsuit and teeth brushed in order to ensure that would happen lol. I took the week off work and kept you out of camp so we could have some summer fun! You wanted to stay home and watch movies with Treeko, but I finally got you motivated after breakfast to head to the pool.
We were swimming at the Meadows and you were showing me all the tricks you can do. I was praising you and you said “I learned how to do that years ago!” We brought buckets and “sold” fresh pool water buckets to anyone who went by lol. There was a kids camp that came for a little while so at one point there were tons of kids. When they stopped for lunch you asked if you could eat lunch with the camp. We ordered grilled cheese.
All of a sudden you said, “ok I’m ready to go home.” The rain was coming too, so we packed up, headed home, took a shower and of course got Treeko out. You were sitting on the couch holding him and you asked to watch “Information about Octopuses” shows. You are hooked on documentaries on Curiosity Stream and Youtube about octopuses. You are amazing how much you love to learn about anything that interests you. So I put it on while I got ready to get us out the door to Spanish.
When we got to the office you called Jackie to tell her about your “illegal leopard” outfit and you told her to come visit. In Spanish, you were showing me how well you know the alphabet and I was so impressed!
After Spanish, we called Daddy on the way home. We decided to go to dinner & take Daddy to man night. While we waited for our food, you gave all of us very thorough medical exams of our hearts and temperatures. You have been dragging our home thermometer with us everywhere for a few weeks and now you’ve added some air pump you found to your repertoire. The plastic stethoscope from your vet bag rounded out your tools!
Then we headed to Nordstrom Rack. My intention was to return a few things, but you advised you wanted to go to “do performances.” You like to try on many different shoes “backstage” (meaning in the aisle and I can’t look) then you come out and sing a song (in gibberish foreign language) while dancing. I will always take you for this because you love it and you shine! It always costs me two pair of shoes but it’s well worth it!
We went home and after a little time with Treeko we headed to bed. You were so sweetly sleeping that I didn’t want to leave you.
You slept in your room all night. Around 8am you ran into my room, completely dressed ready to feed and play with Treeko!
We played class and you already knew how to solve all of the mazes! We were planning to meet a friend of mine from undergrad at Siesta Beach, but you didn’t want to leave Treeko so we ended up not going. Treeko needed to go to sleep so I was finally able to get you to agree to take Grandma Weezie to lunch! We took her to the Hob Nob and you were so funny and cute.
When we finished, we went to the lot to show her we got concrete!! Surprisingly, they were delivering block. The owner of the concrete company was there so we got to talk to him about redoing the handprint in the garage. He felt really bad and promised an alternative which made me really happy. You were looking really droopy and tired on the way home so Daddy dropped Grandma Weezie and I off so we could run to Home Goods and you guys stayed home and played. I thought you might rest but you didn’t. You guys cut open and painted a target box and turned it into a sled that Daddy was pulling you around on. You absolutely loved it!! You were giggling “I can’t stop laughing” as he pulled you up and down the hallway!
We watched some TV while you pet Treeko and you were in heaven. About 9:15p we headed to bed and I was trying to read you stories. Out of nowhere you got really mad and wanted to be left alone. I felt bad and didn’t know what to do to help you. I just laid in your bed while you sat in your recliner. About 20 minutes later I asked if you wanted to come lay with me and you did. You were out in no time. I assume you were just overtired and I probably should have taken you to bed sooner. You fell asleep sweetly in my arms.
You woke up and came to my room at 6:50a soooo excited to get Treeko out before he went to sleep! All you wanted to do was hold him and have him watch movies he’s never seen before lol. You were so happy to snuggle with Harold and Treeko it was so sweet!
You ran to my room & hid under the bed. Daddy came to find you and a big tickle fight ensued. You guys had me smiling from ear to ear. I love to see you play together and be silly.

We packed a picnic lunch and headed to the pool. We played hard and swam lots of races. You always win with your fancy mermaid tail. We got chased away by the rain a few hours later so we headed home to shower.
After our shower, you wanted to lay on the couch and watch a movie with your new headphones. When I came around the corner, I noticed you had fallen asleep. You napped for 1.5 hours. I was organizing the pantry and the whole house was snoozing!
When you finally woke up a little after 5p, we headed to Marina’s house for dinner. Marcela, Eric & Grandma Noot were there too. Marina made brisket and you had two servings of it. You said “these are the best ribs ever” lol! As always, you were a good sport about being the only kid there and I’m so proud of you for that!
We headed home around 9:30p and then we watched a little tv. With the late long nap, you weren’t tired until later. I took you to bed around 10:30p to read stories and we did a meditation. I fell asleep with you…and it was wonderful.
You were sleeping in this morning until a little after 8a. When you woke up, you ran to your room, got dressed and were so excited to feed Treeko. You ate most of your eggs before you could feed him. He’s a great way to encourage you to quickly do your jobs lol. You finished your eggs on the way to theater and told me all about your dream last night that you were in my bed with your new headphones watching TV. You proceeded to tell me I make the best eggs in the town!
You were both a pirate and a mermaid in this weeks performance at the Players. You have really taken a liking to Jamaria, one of the girls in your camp & you were so excited you got to partner with her during one of the numbers! You were front and center during Part of Your World and you were soaking it up! I’m so proud of you!!!!
After the performance we headed to my office for Spanish. You wanted to skip and tried to negotiate leaving at snack time because you wanted to get back to Treeko lol. We stayed until you guys were finished and then I had a hard time getting you to leave! We went home, made dinner and then took a drive to the lot to see the slab. I was devastated to find someone had covered up your hand and foot prints! I tried not to show it because Daddy carried you up the stairs “in” to the house for the first time and I didn’t want to ruin this special moment.
When we got home though, I had to take my car to the car wash just to have a few minutes alone to be mad and cry. That meant so much to me and I just can’t imagine how anyone could not realize that was special and intentional. I came back home and you and Daddy were reading stories in bed. I came to take over and you got really wiggly again. Finally, you calmed down and drifted off to sleep in my arms. I must have kissed your forehead a hundred times.
You slept in your room all night. Daddy finally went to wake you up around 8a. You came out into the living room, asked me to hold you and told me that you wanted to go back to bed because you didn’t get enough sleep! You finally got dressed and we headed to Ms. Michelle’s office. When I told you we were going there you excitedly said “Ms. Michelle with the swing in her house? YAHOOOOO!” You did great with her and we ran to take a new passport photo since yours needs to be renewed. I was trying to kill a little time because they poured the concrete slab at our lot today and I wanted to take you to put your hand and foot prints in the garage! As we turned down the street, the builder texted me and said they need at least another hour or two. So I took you to camp until they confirmed they were ready for us.
When they were finally ready for us, we ran over and picked the perfect spot to put your hand and foot prints. At first, it was too wet and soupy, so we sat in the car for about 30 minutes until it dried a little more. You were so excited and said “this is the best day of my life!” I will never forget this day and am so happy we got to do this. We cleaned you up and headed to my office for Spanish!
After Spanish we ran to gymnastics and you did great on the bars and cartwheels tonight! You are sooooo strong! When we finished, we made pizza at home for dinner. You wanted to get a pair of Frozen headphones when we were at Walgreens getting your passport photo. I let you because headphones were on the school supply list. I told you that you would have to put them in your new bookbag and wait to use them, but you were persistent, so you ended up getting to try them watching Finding Dory on my computer. When you finished, we all took a bike ride and rode 6 more laps around the block. We saw Ms. Mo and you told her all about Kindergarten graduation and your hand prints at the house!
We headed inside, you of course wanted a snack and then we headed to your room to read books. You were fussing at me, squirming and not wanting me to touch you. Then you started asking for Daddy. Usually, you just play and squirm with him, but you wouldn’t stop so I told you to go get him. You did and he came. He sat in the chair with you and whispered to you about calming your body and closing your eyes. In less than a minute, you were BOTH snoring! I have no idea when the last time you fell asleep on him in the chair like this but it was great to capture this one more time. I also can’t believe how long you are now compared to Daddy!
