5/24/20 – Party Slippers

This morning, you woke up and immediately ripped your night pants off excited saying “is this day 1?” Now, that you earned your Elsa dress, you are working up to sleeping in panties instead of night pants. You were doing good around Thanksgiving, waking up several nights in a row dry, but since then, it’s been sporadic. We got up and you wanted fruit & yogurt & we watched a little TV. Then we made waffles & dropped some off to Grandma Weezie. After that, we did a full manicure & pedicure while you dressed the watermelon in your superhero gear. You were trying to hang out in your jammies all day! You told me and Daddy to go put on our “party slippers” like you did!

After lunch, I wanted to go get some supplies to plant some herbs & you finally got dressed to come with me. As always, you had to pick your own dress & wanted to wear rain boots because it was rainy all day. We grabbed our supplies and came home to plant our herbs. You were so helpful and excited to scoop the dirt and water with your watering can. Daddy’s friend Dave came over to hang out.

When we finished, we made shrimp & broccoli fettuccine alfredo. You tore it up and asked for more! After dinner, we took a bike ride & then another lap to take Harold for a walk. You walked him and did a great job! You were calling him, “Harry, come on boy!” It was so cute.

When we got home, we went to do Kids Lingos in your bed. When you finished, you rolled over & said “do you wanna scratch my back? My whole back?” I said sure! You said, “well, I will probably fall asleep while you are scratching my back. I’m tired!” In no time at all, you were sleeping in my arms.

I love you so much!

5/23/20 – Float to the Bottom

We all slept in a little this morning, until around 8am. This week was a tough one and so we were all a little sluggish. The first thing you asked me was “do we have school today or is this a home day?” You were so excited it was a home day. We watched a little TV and you started the day by having 2 churro cupcakes for breakfast. I should have know we’d be in for a day lol!!

You wanted to stay home with Daddy while I ran to Whole Foods. When I got home, we ate lunch & then headed to Marcela’s house to swim. We had so much fun & the water was much warmer today. I bought you a butterfly net to “catch” your ducks with in the pool. You were super happy when I gave that to you! I also grabbed a pack of colorful snakes, but you were disappointed that they “float to the bottom” of the pool. You swam really strong and even backstroked by yourself without prompting. I love how confident you are in the water and it’s awesome to watch you have so much fun playing with Daddy.

A strong rain storm passed through and it dropped the temperature so we were all hiding under the giant raft. You were so happy to be playing in the rain and kept swimming in the rain and laughing hysterically. Your laugh is the best sound in the world. When the rain let up, we took the chance to jump in the car and head home. A second wave of storms was headed for us and it was almost 6p so you were starving. We had dinner when we got home, watched some PJ Masks, had two MORE cupcakes and then we went to your room to do Lingos. We did one Italian Lingo, listened to Bamboleo and you drifted off to sleep hugging me.

I love you so much!

5/22/20 – Sparkles!

Last night, I fell asleep with you and woke up around 11p. I packed your lunch and got myself ready for bed. You came to my bed round 12:30am. We were both pooped so we fell back to sleep right away. I had to rustle you up in the morning, but once you were up, you were so funny. You were running around just wearing Daddy’s shorts and then just his Coast T-shirt.

I surprised you on the way to school and we stopped at Dunkin Donuts for a donut. This was the first time we have done that and you were so excited when I told you what we were doing. You were wide-eyed when looking at all the options to choose from. You immediately picked the one with “sparkles” (aka sprinkles). When we got to school, you took gave Ms. Amber a huge hug & I got a sweet photo of you two.

I picked you up from school so we could get an early start to the holiday weekend. We went home to have snacks & then you wanted to go outside & play in the rain. It was pouring huge rain drops and you were running in the street stomping in the water. You even ran in the house to get your ducks and make them float down the street. You even dipped your head in the puddle to get your hair MORE wet lol. You were soaked and so was I. There really is nothing better than playing in the rain as a kid!!

When Daddy got home, we had dinner and played. He was tickling you & you were tickling him, cracking up on your new Frozen couch. I love watching you with him. It warms my heart. I took you to bed and fell asleep with you – it was a tough week & I was exhausted. I woke up at 4:30am, went to my room and you were following behind within an hour!

I love you so much!

5/21/20 – Storm in a Cup!

You were a silly goose on the way to school. We called Grandma Noot to invite her to girls night tonight. Ms. Sandy brought the ingredients to make a storm in a cup project at home with you. You got to put water, olive oil, food coloring and alka seltzer in a glass to watch what would happen! It was so fun!

I got home early & you helped me make tacos for dinner. Grandma Noot brought Peyton with her & when they walked in you were so happy to see them. You took Peyton to your toy room to play right away. When Daddy got home we made churro cupcakes and played Uno. You wanted to eat the batter, the frosting and a hundred cupcakes lol. It was getting late so I took you to bed. Once again, I fell asleep with you. Snuggling with you is just soooo comfy!

I love you so much!

5/20/20 – FOMO Strikes Again

You were slow to wake up again this morning! You are liking the idea of sleeping in! When you finally woke up, Daddy was tickling you and you were having him “chase” you all over the bed. Silly goose. Once again, you insisted on wearing your Easter dress, that I couldn’t get you to even put on for a quick picture on Easter lol! Daddy made you a wonderful breakfast and you got some cuddles from him before he left for work.

On the way to school today, you asked that we FaceCall Grandma Noot and Federico. Fed was still sleeping so we called Aunt Deb. She was still in bed and you were “yelling” at her telling her to get up, it’s morning time! You gave her lots of kisses on the screen before getting out of the car to go to school. At school, you had an amazing day in the garden you guys have been keeping. You got to see a chrysalis, caterpillars and emerging butterflies! You were also playing with the girls on “Gus” the caterpillar!

You and Daddy made burgers for dinner & I went to dinner with Peggy Hinkle. You wanted to help him cook, so you grabbed my enormous cast iron pan and tried to pull it out of the cabinet! You asked Daddy for help because it was so heavy!!! He was like what are you doing lol!?!?! After dinner, you went for a walk, but you were running in your flip flops and fell. Daddy got your boo-boo all cleaned up and when I got home, it was the first thing you told me all about! I kissed your knee (with your supervision to ensure I was far enough away from the boo-boo) and then we went to your room to do Lingos and go to sleep. When I asked you to snuggle with me after Lingos you said “I can’t Mama, if I do, I will fall asleep and not be able to snuggle with you!” You have the biggest case of Fear Of Missing Out I have ever seen. You never want to go to sleep for fear of what you will miss!!!

I love you sooo much!

5/19/20 – Donuts!!

You slept in a bit this morning again. I finally got you to roll over around 730am. You wanted to stay in bed & snuggle. You asked if we have school today & I said yes. You said “I just want to have a home day Mama.” We finally got you up, moving & doing your jobs (brushing teeth &hair, eating breakfast & getting dressed) and then you spotted the donuts on the counter and of course wanted one!

I let you have a donut on the way to school – first time for that! When we got there, we had to sit in the car, finish the donut & the Toy Story song we were listening to, then you asked me to take your picture on your pretty rock. You had a great day & when I was driving home, you and Ms. Sandy were on a bike ride around the block. You helped me make a pizza & when Daddy got home, you were trying to carry his big umbrella around. That sparked you to want to take a walk with your umbrella. We grabbed Harold and hit the road. We grabbed the mail & ran into Luca & his family. You two immediately started running around the lake and chasing each other. Luca was trying to climb up some wood and you were helping him. Then when you guys ran to the sidewalk, there was a car coming down the street, you put your hand in front or his chest to stop him from going into the street. It was sooooo sweet. I hope you get to be a big sister someday…you would really love it. You are so kind and concerned for others (and a little nosy & a tiny bit bossy lol) you would be an amazing sister. It was so cute to watch you with Luca for a few minutes tonight. After our walk, we went home, did some Italian & Kids Lingos & read a few books. All of a sudden, we went from snugging to you snoring! What a fun day!

I love you so much!

5/18/20 – It’s Not Sensible!

I tried to wake you up starting at 6:45am. I wasn’t successful until 7:30a. You played and swam so hard all weekend and you slept even harder. Since I couldn’t shower you last night, I had to get you in there this morning! Once you were up, you were happy to jump in, but we had to go get ALL of your duckies first, so you could put them ALL in my shower! I had to be on a Zoom call at 8:30am with a panel I’m presenting with later today, so I let you know that when we got into my car. You waved at everyone when we got on and they all thought you were adorable. You were so good, quiet & respectful during my call. I was so proud of you. You whispered to ask me if we could do a Lingo when my call was done before you go into school lol. When we pulled into the parking lot, you asked me (in your sweetest voice) “Mama, could you please try to come and pick me up before nap today?” You gave me a huge hug & kiss before running inside happily. I hope you have an awesome day!

At school, you got to play the Very Hungry Caterpillar “Surprise Slides” game with George. In the art center, you began documenting the life cycle of the butterfly. When Ms. Sandy picked you up, she brought your umbrella because it rained most of the day. You were very happy about that surprise, even though it wasn’t raining when she picked you up. You complimented her on what a good idea it was to think to bring it!

Daddy beat me home and tried to get you to do a workout with him, but you weren’t really interested in it lol… You were painting and doing Spanish Lingos when I got home. You were so cute perched at the computer answering the questions. I kissed you then ran down to cook dinner. You insisted on helping, which I gladly accepted. You changed your dress and put on a princess crown for dinner – why not?!?!

You asked Daddy & I to play at your train table with you after dinner. You must have said ten times, “It’s not sensible daddy!” when he was trying to drive the trains around the track. I was laughing…where did you get the word “sensible” from?!?! Poor Harold ended up having the wear the princess crown, again, which he is less than enthused about each time! Fortunately, he’s a good sport and a great dog. You tell him you love him a lot, usually when you are nearly strangling him!! You were also drawing at your chalkboard. I have notice over the last week or so that you are holding pens, crayons & chalk so much more properly, out of nowhere it seems. It shows in the work coming home from school too. Writing your name is getting so much better and more consistent. I’m so proud of you!!

We headed to your room to do a few Kids Lingos, read two books & snuggled until you drifted off to sleep. Another fun day, another peaceful night. I am so in love with you. I am so grateful for you.

I love you so much!

5/17/20 – Siesta Sunday

After the day we had yesterday, we slept in again today. We got up again around 8am, got dressed (you insisted on wearing your Easter dress, which I could NOT get you to put on Easter Sunday lol) & then ran to Whole Foods to get food & snacks for our beach day. You love to ask the clerk at the entrance for a mask. You are fascinated with them! We got home, packed up our cooler and hit the road. We were meeting Aunt Deb, Fed & Grandma Noot at Siesta Beach. When we arrived it was so packed, it was like 4th of July. Absolutely no parking. We had a quick picnic lunch before Janice invited us to her condo which has a private beach.

When we got to the beach you immediately ran to the water with Fed & jumped right in. You had so much fun playing with him all day. We were floating around on a pool noodle & you were telling me how much you like the private beach and first class when you fly lol. You were floating on a chair and going up to “scare” Daddy & yell boo! Fed made a sand mermaid tail for you too! Janice came down to hang with us and she brought you a surprise – ice cream bar! When we walked up to the beach I told you she brought you a surprise and you said “everyone should bring me a surprise treat!” lol

Everyone should bring me a surprise treat!

We left at 7p & you fell asleep hard in the car on the way home. You rinsed off at the beach shower before we left, but your face was still super sandy. I got a washcloth and wiped your face off to clear the sand before taking you in the bed because there’s no way I could give you a shower. When I laid you and then you rolled over & I said “do you wanna put night pants on ?” You said “no, I’m not going to sleep just yet.” I literally giggled out loud. You were out in 2 seconds. Today was so awesome. We got to slow down, to be in a beautiful place, enjoy our family and connect with each other. It was so perfect. You spent time with all of us at different points throughout the day. I was so happy to see you getting quality one on one time with everyone.

I love you soooo much!

5/16/20 – Cantaloupes!

You & I slept in until around 8:15a. Daddy got up and went golfing before we got up. We watched a little bit of TV together when you first woke up, then we played outside catching bugs. You brought love bugs in the house to watch them walk on the train table. You asked me to watch the bug to make sure it doesn’t fly away, while you went outside to catch more! You told me if he tries to get away, I am supposed to use a net or just catch him. Lol. Grandma Noot stopped by to drop some stuff off. You were happy to see her & tried to block the door when she went to leave!

We headed to Marcela’s to swim for the afternoon. You immediately put ALL of your ducks in the pool as soon as we got there. We had so much fun playing. You were jumping, swimming & doing cannonballs (which you were calling “cantaloupes” lol. There was a gopher tortoise walking around eating grass & you were fascinated by him. Then, Eric found a wasp nest & you and him opened it, found some larvae & then you took them to feed to the chicken.

When we started to cook lunch, you were helping me cut pineapples, and you took the peels to feed to the chicken too. Daddy came after golf and hung out for a bit. We headed out around 7p so I could get you home in time to take a quick bath before going to bed. You fell asleep in the car shortly after we left. We skipped the bath. When I got you out of the car seat & carried you in the house, I laid you in your bed. You rolled over and went right back to sleep immediately. You played so hard all day and we had so much fun!

I love you so much!

5/15/20 – Hydrate Your Body

When I woke up, I got up to pack your lunch and get a head start because I have an early start at work. You scooted over and snuggled with Daddy immediately.

Danced to Bamboleo before breakfast. We had it playing really loud, I think Daddy thought we were crazy lol.

On the way to school, you were quite chatty, telling me all sorts of stories. Sometimes, you use words that take me by surprise. Recently, you have said (on you own not repeating what you just heard) acquiesce, concentrate, and this morning you were talking about being hydrated. We were having a conversation about keeping your body healthy. You said “if you don’t hydrate your body, you will get dead!” I asked you what will hydrate your body? You said, “healthy food, like broccoli and crackers and soda drinks!!” You are so silly.

When I got home from work you were outside playing in the rain with your umbrella with Ms. Sandy, having a blast! Your little pigtails were soaked! Grandma Noot came to have a date with you so Daddy & I could go to dinner at the Romos. Before we left, you were walking around in my high heels and having a blast.

You & Grandma Noot had fun, watched a little bit of Finding Nemo, played with molding clay & cookie cutters, and you typed & texted us messages from her computer. All the messages were variations of I love you and hope you have fun! It was so sweet! We got home at 10:30p & you were on the couch snacking on fruit. Daddy shared some of the dessert with you that Joe Romo sent home with us. You came to bed with us in our room and you were so excited about that!

I love you so much!
