Last night, you came to my room at 3a and you didn’t go back to sleep until 5a, so we slept in a little later than usual, especially for a day we were planning to go to Legoland. When you finally got up it was about 9a. Grandma Noot made you eggs for breakfast then we hit the road!
You were feeling extra brave today and wanted to ride a lot of the rides without me. At first you let me sit in the car behind you, but quickly you asked me to wait by the cubbies at the exit! The first ride you rode alone was the Dragon and you were so excited when the car took off. These little tiny steps toward independence you find thrilling. I’m trying to hide that a little piece of me wilts each time. After all, that’s my job…to prepare you to fly on your own. But man…at 6 years old?!?!?! It’s beautiful, but bittersweet for sure. When you got off, I asked you how it was and you squealed “it was great! I wanna do that again!”
